On the night of one of the attacks, On gets an "unscheduled victory" and suddenly disappears. ...... Gusuku and the other three men, who are left behind, soon begin to pursue the mystery of On's disappearance, while keeping in mind "the real hero that On aspired to be," and eventually become police, an elementary school teacher, and a yakuza, all going their own separate ways. However, the reality that nothing is as it should be in an environment controlled by the U.S. and abandoned by the mainland makes them unfeasibly angry, and one incident triggers an outburst of their suppressed emotions. The U.S. military also begins to move in pursuit of "something" that Ong has taken from the base. What was the "unplanned outcome" of the vanished hero? And what is the shocking truth that is revealed after 20 years?
